Happy to help

You want to #GetHorsey but you definitely don’t want to ride? Why not consider becoming a volunteer? If you have a love of horses and a willingness to muck in – and muck out – you will be welcomed with open arms by lots of equine charities and riding schools. If you’re happy to help but don’t want to be quite so hands-on, there are lots of things you can do, such as lending a hand at local shows, fundraising, signing up for admin duties or simply attending the events as a spectator to show your support.

Contact organisations in your area such as welfare and rescue centres, riding schools and Pony Club branches to see whether they would like any help and keep an eye out for any forthcoming shows or events and get in touch with the organiser or secretary to offer your services.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have any previous experience, because training can easily be provided. Your commitment and enthusiasm to lend a hand is what counts.
